The two kinds of Phrogram programs which require DirectX are:
- programs which use 3D
- programs which use game controllers
If you plan to write 3D programs, or ones that use a game controller, click the link below to go to the Microsoft DirectX Web Installer page. Once you're on the page, just click the
Continue button - DirectX is a free download from Microsoft.
You may think you already have DirectX installed because of other applications or games, or because your control panel tells you that DirectX 9.0c is installed. Even if this is the case you should run the DirectX web installer because Phrogram makes use of some optional DirectX files which are not installed by most games or Windows. For a more technical explanation see this forum post. Not running the web installer is the most common reason we see for 3d and game controllers not working.

programming with Phrogram right away!
