Notes on Installing Phrogram

The installation process for Phrogram takes several steps so we thought we'd post an article on the site explaining how it works. Here's how it works.

First, you'll see a file download screen message. When you click on "Run," it will open the following

Click on Run and you'll see another message that explains what is about to happen after you click on Setup ...

Next you will see the installation screen

You need to accept the end user license agreement, enter your customer information, and choose where to install Phrogram on your machine - you can just click OK or Next through these steps. Then you click install and (finally!) the installation starts to happen. Lastly, you will get to the "installation completed" screen ...

Click on Finish and the program opens your web browser and takes you to a Microsoft web installer to make sure you have Microsoft DirectX optional files that Phrogram uses for displaying 3D graphics in its programs . The URL is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3. Click Continue on that page if you are not sure and Microsoft's installation process takes care of the rest.

It would be nice if this could be somewhat simpler but for now, because Phrogram depends on both .NET Framework 2.0 and DirectX runtime code, comes in a ZIP file, uses the Installshield program to actually install, etc., it does take going through a few screens to get from downloaded to installed!
