  • Re: When is the next contest?

Well, we've seen some ideas about it ... http://phrogram.com/forums/post/6610.aspx I don't think 3D is going to be what we do because we're going to be making changes in that area over the next several months, so I'd rather wait until they are done before we do a 3D contest. I liked Davidinnz's idea about "reusable ...

  • Re: Next contest idea

I don't have the time to dive into 3D stuff at the moment. But I think that a contest based on adding to the supply of reusable Phrogram screen elements (or call them controls, or UI widgets) via a demonstration app would be highly beneficial to us all. The emphasis should be on encapsulation, so that it is as simple as possible for someone ...

  • Winter/Spring Contest - Butterfly Chase

This is a cool program designed by Melanie Rust, a second grader and 8 years old (helped a little by her dad). Although very simple, it demonstrates a lot of the programming principles, including math, useful in Phrogram. The goal of the game is to catch the butterflies with a net. Each butterfly has an equation on it. A matching value is on the ...

  • Winter/Spring Contest Entry: AsteroidMaths

While it's not winter/spring -- at least in this part of the world -- here's my entry. It's a game of asteroids, that at the same time encourages the player to learn their basic arithmetic skills. I didn't write all of it, as some of the code has been recycled from the sample Asteroids.kpl. But it is extensively extended with ...

  • Announcing the results of our Fall programming contest!

We had six entries in our fall contest, for best use of sound in a program. Thanks to everyone who entered!  It was a lot of fun to give each entry a whirl, and deciding which three should win a prize wasn’t easy! And, if you read on, you’ll learn that we added a fourth! First, let me summarize each entry, and let you know ...

  • Fall Contest Entry - Spelling Bee

Attached is our entry for the Fall programming contest. I hope it will be valuable to someone! Our entry was put together as a group, myself and my son and daughter. This is a spelling bee program that allows up to four people to compete in a spelling bee. The sound elements include the pronunciation of the words and sounds for correct ...

  • Any more fall contest entries?

Today is the last day to enter our Fall programming contest. Unfortunately, we seem to have stumped our user community  ... Mitch is the only person who entered (Mitch - thanks, your program is very cool!). Now, it would be easy to just say "hey Mitch, you won!" and call it a day (that is, of course, after sending the prize), but ...
